The unit was created by Harris CapRock and Hibox Systems to provide a flexible, dynamic system with advanced search capabilities for the vessel’s extensive movie and TV show collection available to residents. In addition, there is a multiscreen interface that works with internally wired and wireless networks to deliver the same content to any device including smart phones, tablets, smart TVs and computer screens. The Smartroom TV Solution can automatically import new movies from the library updates and has a messaging system that provides residents with notifications from the crew.
“As a managed service communications company, we increasingly act as a true telecommunications provider for customers in all our verticals, delivering solutions beyond traditional connectivity,” said Matthew Broida, vice president of marketing and technology, Harris CapRock. “Hibox was an ideal partner due to their ability to meet the high expectations of customers in the cruise and yacht segment, which includes a cutting-edge IPTV system with advanced search capabilities, highly customizable user interface, multi-screen options and the capability to provide an IPTV solution including head-end, middleware and set-top boxes.”
“The Smartroom TV Solution continues our success with large cruise ships and demonstrates our capability to provide high-quality solutions to one of the most demanding customer segments within the IPTV industry,” said Staffan Granholm, CEO, Hibox Systems.
